Took a trip out to bear mountain last night. I got there at around 1 in the afternoon and looked out over this ridge at the very top near the Observatory/Lighthouse they have up there. I knew there was a beautiful shot to be made here but the light wasn’t great so i took a shot with my iphone, packed up and headed down the mountain. On the hike i took a few other photos but mostly just worked up a sweat.
At the bottom I entered the inn and ordered a sausage which i was sorely disappointed in. Had a drink of water and headed on the trail back up to this spot. The hike down and back up took a total of 3 and a half hours. So needless to say I was drenched in sweat and exhausted but there was a wonderful breeze and calm up there and i was quickly relaxed, cooled off and taking in the beautiful sites.
After waiting for the best light and taking many photos I finally had the perfect scene. Because of haze in the distance, the sun setting and the deep shadows in the forest I decided to go with HDR. This photo is a stitched composite of 18 shots. One 6 shot left frame HDR processed, another middle frame, and a right frame. I then cropped at a 2:1 ration, processed with some photoshop magic, and dodged/burned to perfection. A total of about 2.5 hours of work. Went to bed at 3 am! lol
Hope you enjoy it. Comments welcome.
